Arthur Whitney es un informático teórico kanadiense ke dezvelopó las lenguas de programasyón A+, K, i Q bazados de APL .
Primeros Anyos
Crecí en la sivdad de Edmonton (Alberta, Kanada). Su padre fue un companyero de universidad en Harvard University i un amigo dobro de Ken Iverson. Su primera expozisyón a APL fue en 1969 en la casa de Iverson.[1]
Educasyón
Entró en la Universidad de Alberta en 1974. Estudió tambien en la Universidad de Waterloo. Durante los veranos, lavoró a I. P. Sharp Associates, una empresa importante de APL. Estudió de postgrado en matematicas puras en la Universidad de Toronto de 1980 a 1985, pero no resivió un diplomado. [1] Estudiò en Stanford de 1985 a 1988 i lavoraba en una empresa de su profesor ke yamó Teknowledge, onde dezvelopó una lengua como PROLOG.[2]
Arthur continuó su lavoro kon Ken Iverson. En 1989, escriviyó un versyon preliminar de J usando la lengua C.[3]

Kuando Teknowledge fue merkado en 1988, Arthur adjuntó a Morgan Stanley. Aki, Arthur dezvelopó la lengua A+ basado por APL; fue usaba kon data grande en computadoras ordinarias. En 1993, Arthur initió la companya Kx Systems kon su esposa Janet Lustgarten para vender su nueva lengua K.[4]
Asta 2008, Arthur era el Presidente i Director de Tecnolojía de Kx Systems. De 2008 a 2015, era el Presidente del consejo. Agora, esta en el Bordo de Kx Systems.
